Why an NCD site for the Anglican Church?

Anglicans in many different parts of the world have engaged with Natural Church Development since it was launched in the mid to late 1990s. For some it has been for the purpose of growing their church, for others it has been about personal growth.

Some Anglicans have come and stayed, tracking with NCD’s developments over the years. Others have come, “tasted” what NCD has to offer and moved on. Still others have come and gone, and then returned with a renewed belief in NCD’s capacity to help them stimulate a healthier church life. All the while, alongside the experienced ‘old hands’, we see a steady stream of Anglicans encountering NCD for the first time.

Over time we’ve watched Anglicans representing the main streams of the Communion – the Anglo-Catholics, the Evangelicals and the Liberals – find in NCD a common language which allows them a helpful entry point for discussing healthy growth without feeling pigeon-holed or judged. NCD takes them from where they are

Congregational members, wardens, parish councillors, local clergy, bishops and archbishops in various parts of the Communion have been considering NCD’s findings. It has entered the thinking of Anglican church planters. NCD has been part of synods, bishops’ executive councils, diocesan mission action plans and clergy selection processes.

And with Anglicanism being what it is, we’ve seen NCD being ‘poked and prodded’ by enthusiasts, progressives, traditionalists, sceptics, cynics, revolutionaries and evolutionaries.

This site is for all Anglicans who are engaged in applying the principles and processes of NCD or exploring the possibility of doing so. While NCD International has significant expertise working with Anglicans, the most significant growth in the health of Anglican churches will come from an international Anglican NCD learning community. This community is already emerging. Now this site offers an official forum – a place for sharing stories, shaping strategies and swapping statistics.
