In the church world today there are many 'heroes' but for those seeking guidance in leadership and ministry the question must be, "Is this person the kind of hero I should be seeking to emulate or just a Goliath-like shadow I'm chasing." What is the difference between Davids and Goliaths and more importantly, who are the Davids? By their fruit you will know them A 'David' is a person who is able to fruitfully use all that God has provided him or her with (like a few stones, a slingshot and the power of God). The greatest of the 'Davids' are those who can not only do this in their own life, but also lead those around them to achieve the same.In specific NCD terms, a David is a person who is instrumental in significantly improving the quality of a community of faith over time or in maintaining a high level of quality consistently. Put another way they methodically or intuitively apply God's growth forces ('Color Your World' - Chapter 3) and thereby have a wonderful sensitivity to each new thing God is doing and how best to respond to it. NCD International is committed to identifying these people, honoring them, and challenging them to make themselves available to assist other leaders and churches in their regional area. Objective Measurable Consistency The people we have found (and continue to look for) have... ...overseen the increase in health of their congregation by an average of at least 15 points and have worked through at least 4 NCD surveys. Thereby having been instrumental in significant cultural change and shown commitment to the process of long-term continuous growth.*Alternatively they have......overseen the maintenance of all NCD Quality Characteristics in their congregation at or over 65 for at least 4 surveys. In this way, they've been instrumental in maintaining very high congregational health despite a continuous inflow of new people.*Real people - not uncatchable shadows Most of these people are not particularly famous. They may never appear on the cover of a book. If you passed them on the street, you probably wouldn't look twice. They represent small and large churches of many different varieties. And like the person from the parable of the talents who used well what he had been given, these people will hear from the master, "Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!"Wouldn't you like to learn from people like that?
