ascetic style

Sometime during the next week, engage in one or more of the following ascetic discisplines on the same day.

- fast from two or three meals on a given day (if you are not used to fasting, fast from lunch and your evening meal having made sure you have had a good breakfast)
- spend an extended time in silence (making sure that any people around you know that you are not simply ignoring them)
- spend an extended time in solitude (take yourself away from human contact and as far as possible away from any form of luxury or beauty)

While engaging in these one or more disciplines, focus upon the things in your life for which you can thank and praise God and be sure to do so.
