Analysing Your Minimum Factor: Inspiring Worship Service

The purpose of this series is to offer some basic “entry points” for beginning to explore your Minimum Factor graph.

This post is for those whose Minimum Factor is Inspiring Worship Service.

Two initial points need to be made.

First, all the questions relate to the degree to which the worship service is inspiring. The higher a question’s result, the greater its contribution to the service being inspiring.

Make a list of ten reasons for celebration from your life this week (eg. from your work, church, ministry, family and friendships, the Bible, etc.) and share some of those points with at least three people from your church.

Personal Contributions to Quality Characteristics

Empowering Leadership (EL) and Need-Oriented Evangelism (NOE) are the two Qaulity Characteristics (QCs) which I often lack to have enthusiasm for especially when it comes to me personally contributing something in these areas for the positive growth of my Church.  I don't have leadership and evangelism in my "gift mix”, and together with a lack of NCD knowledge, it was little wonder that a while back I ended up concluding there was no point to even thinking about them.  Thankfully, since then, God has shown me ways in which I can contribute to these QCs without "chea

Music resources

Generic search

There are a number of ways you can access worship resources on the net

Firstly, if you are looking for a particular song, you can simply do a google search on the title of that song - Enter www.google.com. and then in the search box, enter the song title in inverted commas eg "I can only imagine"

If you search for songs this way, you have the benefit of being taken to a number of different websites that may offer the lyrics, sheet music, or available CDs and DVDs

Searching for lyrics only:

Do a www.google.com search on "Christian Lyrics" or as above, enter the song title in the search box and add the word lyrics on the end eg "I can only imagine" lyrics

Quality Characteristic Hands

Here are some 'Quality Characteristic Hand' photos I took that made up part of a thematic photo panel in the foyer of our church. At the bottom is a mock up of the photo panel itself.

You can click the photos to download the originals if you like.

Hope it is useful or prompts your own ideas.

Empowering Leadership

Once upon a time… (escaping the 'do'ldrums)

"John is one of the most insightful young people you have ever met. He is a person who sits, watches, listens, takes in everything around him and then almost as if to catch you off guard, suddenly comes out with statements that seem to summarise the world, God's will and eternity in one sentence – and it all makes sense! What's more, John has an extraordinary capacity to take these insights and develop them into poetry.

Once upon a time… (life on another 'plan'et)

"The final chord rings out and you feel so completely overwhelmed by the presence of God that you simply do not want to move. Or perhaps it is that you can't move. Either way, that final song, that sense of unified worship, the place of God in the words of the final verse… you sense that this song could take your home congregation to a new place. After the service the next weekend you ask a few members of your worship team to stay back a while as you play for them this new found gem.

Once upon a time… (something to push you over the 'know'ledge)

"It has been on your mind for some time that the emerging worship service-related talent in the church needs to be identified and developed. To this end, you arrange for a morning at the church where, for half an hour at a time, you talk to and enjoy the presentations of each of the prospective worship team members. It proves to be a wonderful experience as you discover instrumental gifts and gifts of singing, poetry, drama, dance (and some gifts you're not even sure how to describe).

Once upon a time... (a painful 'test'imony)

"The worship service has finished and the congregation has been sent out to minister in the world. While you are packing up your worship notes, you are approached by a lady you've seen around the chuch but never met. She introduces herself as Mary and tells you how much she enjoyed the service. In the course of discussion, Mary mentions that she used to sing every week in her previous church. Seeing Mary's obvious love for God and based on her apparent experience, you sense that she just may be the answer to your prayers.
