Quality Characteristics

Whose survey results are they?

Since it is called an NCD Church Survey, the answer to the question "whose survey results are they?” would seem obvious. "They are the results for our church!” In a sense this is true, but clarity about the specific human face of the results will have a dramatic impact on how well you use your time and energy in making plans and taking action as well as accelerating your rate of progress.

Thoughts and Questions:

When reading a book on a subject that relates to one of the eight quality characteristics you will make a confusing discovery. The majority of authors tend to sell you their insights into a specific area as the key to church growth. When you read a book on leadership, you will learn that leadership is the key. When you read a book on evangelism, the message will be that evangelism is the key.

The vocabularies of NCD

Question:

I'd always been told and have communicated to others that the Growth Forces (Biotic Principles) are such an important aspect of NCD. So why does the NCD Survey Workbook not mention them?

It might be comforting for those who love the Growth Forces to know that one of the authors of the NCD Survey Workbook is also a co-author of one of the most widely used Biotic Principle training presentations used in the NCD world (and personally also loves the Growth Forces). So why are they not mentioned in the NCD Survey Workbook.

I am looking for pre-developed study guides for teaching small groups the NCD process. Does any one have such material developed? I serve as the Pastor of a 3 year old church plant west of Columbus Ohio in the town of West Jefferson. Any assistance that can be shared would be of great benefit.

Personal Contributions to Quality Characteristics

Empowering Leadership (EL) and Need-Oriented Evangelism (NOE) are the two Qaulity Characteristics (QCs) which I often lack to have enthusiasm for especially when it comes to me personally contributing something in these areas for the positive growth of my Church.  I don't have leadership and evangelism in my "gift mix”, and together with a lack of NCD knowledge, it was little wonder that a while back I ended up concluding there was no point to even thinking about them.  Thankfully, since then, God has shown me ways in which I can contribute to these QCs without "chea

Quality Characteristic Hands

Here are some 'Quality Characteristic Hand' photos I took that made up part of a thematic photo panel in the foyer of our church. At the bottom is a mock up of the photo panel itself.
